CHANGE

We all change throughout our life. If we didn't, the world would be full of a million astronauts and princesses while we rode around on unicorns or race cars.
Sometimes we change for the better, but sometimes for the worst. That doesn't mean you can't change again fix that bad attitude.
Those friends/family who stand beside us through both our good AND bad times are the ones worth keeping. They are the ones we can count on to be there when we most need them (even if we say we don't need their support). They might even nudge us and try to tell us to shape up.
Be sure to take a look at yourself before you point any fingers. Chime on!

DOUBLE WHAMMY NIGHT

Over the weekend, I went to a funeral for a super nice kid. It was an eye opener for me to hear his loved ones say such good things about him and his character. Later that night, I watched the movie Marley & Me for the first time. (Double whammy for a cryfest I know.) Owen Wilson's character ends the film with these words:

A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?

I had a friend try to remind me of an event I couldn't remember. They insisted I was the person in their story and said, "But I know it was you because I don't know anybody else that would pick up a scarf someone dropped and run it up to them so they didn't lose it. You just go out of your way to help others." It seemed silly to me that they don't know another who would do such a simple thing, but I  took that as a major compliment. I know I'm not perfect...and I bet some have a story about that too. But I do hope that I can be a person others can turn to for ANY thing ANY time. It is my goal to make those I come in contact with to feel extra ordinary (yes, I'm singing that Extra Ordinary song by Better than Ezra now). It is my goal to be better. I guess I just need a reminder every once in awhile.
