LANTERN FEST 2017

This was my second year of attending the Lantern Fest in Salt Lake City, UT. I went last year with a few friends and just loved the amazing sight of seeing the sky illuminate with thousands of lanterns released as signs wishes, dreams, and hope. It is simply stunning.
I'll be honest and say this year didn't run as smoothly as last year. The festival was charging for parking at the event which caused a HUGE traffic jam that we were caught in for 2 hours. I even think some people didn't make it in time. We barely made it in to grab our kits, roast 1 marshmallow in the dark, and light our lanterns.

It is a magical event where people come together and help each other light their lantern and let it take flight and fill the desert sky. Despite all of the upsets this year, the event was a beautiful success.

LANTERN FEST

What is the Lantern Fest? It is a an opportunity for thousands of cool people to join together to create an unforgettable display of light.
Each attendee gets a kit with all the fixings for s'mores, tools to decorate your lantern, and an opportunity for great memories.
You can arrive early for an afternoon of live music, dancing, food trucks, kid's fun,

 and s'mores.
After the sun sets and the time is just right,
it is time to light the sky with lanterns.
The lanterns are supposed to represent our highest hopes, deepest regrets, and fondest dreams.

You are welcome to write on or decorate your lantern to represent those things.
Then after you light the lantern,
you let it go and let it float away to the sky.
It is really a sight to behold.
I have never experienced an event like this before, but I am sure this won't be the last time.
