BABY GIFT IDEA

I have a lot of friends that have been birthing babies lately. I found the cutest place to buy them gifts.
If you love the minky chenille baby stuff, then you will love this shop. It's called Bebe Bella Designs.
They sell blankets, throws, bibs, booties, mittens, hats, pillowcases for everyone in the family from baby, toddler, and adults.

I'm sharing this with you because they are offering $10 off your purchase of $25 or more with the code blogger10. This offer expires Thursday, February 20th 2014, so maybe buy now while it's on sale and hand them out when the timing is right.

FIGHTING FLEAS - K9 Advantix II

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
Spring is coming soon, which means that flea season will soon be upon us! Day-Z and I like to go for hikes up the canyon. I put her on her chain and let her dig and sniff logs so she can think she is the great hunter she was bred to be.

How do we avoid those pesky bugs that live up there? We use K9 Advantix II.
K9 Advantix II is a leading brand of pet medication that helps repel and kill fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, biting flies, and lice on dogs.
You can buy a 4-month packs (or larger packs) in different variations for different sizes of dogs (>10lbs, 11-20lbs, 21-55lbs, or 55lbs+).
The box has really simple instructions on how to use it for topical treatment for your dog.
You twist cap, break seal, apply to dog's skin in 2-3 spots, and throw away empty tube. Easy Peasy.
Bonus: the solution is waterproof so your pooch can run through the creeks/canals and play just like normal and still be protected.
It's super easy, super strong, and super worth it to keep your dog healthy.

**Not for use on cats or other animals and not for puppies under 7 weeks of age.**

PET MEDICATION DISCOUNT CARD

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
For almost 1 year, I have been giving Day-Z 1 drop in her eye 2x daily. I do it at the same time twice a day, but for some reason, the alarm I set surprises me each time it goes off. Anyway, we buy this solution in bulk to try to save some money because it is rather costly.
Another way I found to save money on pet medications (and a bunch of human ones too) is with a FREE pet medication discount card. The medication card is accepted at all chain pharmacies including CVS, Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Rite-Aid, and, well, let's just say it's good at over 59,000 pharmacies nationwide.
Your Pharmacy discount card can save you up to 75% off all of the cash price of your and your pet's prescription medications.  You just need to print the card, hand it to your pharmacist when picking up your medication, and save money.  Discounts will be significantly more for generic drugs than brand name, but the card works for both.
Day-Z uses Latanoprost which is a generic for Xalatan solution. As you can see, we still paid a good chunk of money for the meds at our Costco pharmacy, but would've had to pay lots more without a discount. Each bottle is normally $17.50 if you purchase 3....use your math and we saved a bunch buying 12 boxes. We'll keep this card handy for our future purchases.
The medication discount card is free, never expires, is easy to use, and can be printed and used immediately so you might as well give it a try and save some money your and your pet medications!

**NOTE this is not insurance and cannot be used to reduce your co-pay.  It can be used instead of insurance or for drugs or vitamins that are not covered by insurance.  This card will work for most drugs, but there might be some that the card offers no discount on. (Go here to check for a full drug list.)**

SOCHI OLYMPICS

I had the chance to touch a real gold olympic gold medal and meet some former US olympians while watching the 2014 Sochi opening ceremony.
 NOTE: There isn't chocolate inside.
Despite the #SochiProblems we've been hearing about, I thought the show was pretty cool.
The only thing I wasn't fond of was our outfits.

Team USA, My Grandma phoned and says she wants her white turtleneck and tacky sweater back.

YOGA SWEAT

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I believe some people are made to do yoga and some are not. If you watched me when I first put on the Yoga Sweat DVD, you might have politely told me to try another form of exercise.
Julie Schoen (yoga trainer, author, founder of yoginiology.com, and the lady in the video) looks fantastic and does the moves with ease. Deanna (mean Reese's Peanut butter cup milkshake maker, dog walker, and kinda lazy lately) looked more like an elephant trying to tiptoe.
I'm not posting any photos of me because my dog does more graceful poses than I do.

I know from other experience that stretching is super good for your body. I get a lot of knots in my shoulders and my body really lets me know when I have been slacking with exercise/stretching. So I thought why not give yoga a try?
I am an absolute beginner! I was able to follow along pretty well with the 10-minute warm-up (and it really did warm me up). The first 30-minute workout came on and the instructor goes a little fast. I'm sure it will get easier once I learn the poses. I realize it isn't so repetitious as an aerobic routine video where you do a small move a bunch of times in a row so you can catch on after the first couple. The moves are all named off as they are performed on the DVD. I've never heard chaturanga, dandasana, upward facing dog, downward dog, eagle in the nest, warrior 2, hopper step forward, offer the heart, etc. It was a little intimidating (like a foreign language). DON'T GIVE UP! You will get it. Practice makes perfect. The second 30-minute workout was more my style and KILLER for the core (you'll feel it in the legs, glutes, arms, and back too--no worries). To end, there is a nice 10-minute cool-down that helps with your breathing (in savasana) and is full of stretches that I am already familiar with from previous stretching in PE classes from high school.
It is supposed to be powerful and fun yoga for weight loss and beginnersdon't let the intensity scare you. Don't give up on it. I have no doubt this 80-minute yoga DVD is great for losing weight, toning your body from head to toe, and working out in an effective way. #namaste

PLATTY the Dog

Since when did I turn into such a dog lover?! Especially one who pulls over on Center Street to follow a dog home who ran across the super busy road twice hindering traffic, who sees a dog run up the onramp on the freeway and drives lots of miles out of my way to the next exit to turn around and check on him, or one who gets teary-eyed when talking to strangers about her own dog.

RIDICULOUS, I know.
And then someone shares the story of Platty the dog with me and my heart breaks.
A dog who was supposed to die. Platty will live his last days, fulfilling his dog bucket list with kind-hearted, compassionate people instead of stuck in a shelter. I just want to give them all big hugs. The world needs more happy Platty faces and caring people like his new family (I'm including his owners, doctors, the photographer, and all of the supporters around the map as his family).

Read up and follow along with his journey on his Facebook page.

KONG Dog Toys GIVEAWAY

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Day-Z is a smart dog. She likes to do dog puzzles to to give herself both a mental and physical workout. For her birthday month, I chose to give her a KONG Satellite Treat Dispenser. It's a unique toy that dispenses treats and totally provides your dog with lots of exercise.
It's easy for adults or kids to add the treats to the toy dispenser.

The KONG Satellite Treat Dispenser (about 8.5 inches in length) is translucent which allows dogs to not only smell but also SEE the treats inside.
The holes are positioned in different spots so the toy
dispenses treats as you spin, tilt and tumble it.

Moderation - It helps make your dog have to work for the treat
instead of just scarfing them all down right away.
Hershey came over and easily figured out as Day-Z was busy doing all of  the work to get the treats out, she could sneak a few.
Day-Z instantly chews and destroys the $1 plastic squeaky toys I buy from Wal-mart. But Kong dog toys seem to last A LOT longer. Kong is known for making high-quality, durable toys that dogs love and we can add our testimony to that!
She did get a little rough with this one, but this all the damage she did. A few small scratches. Not bad at all.

Kong toys are 100% safe and come in a variety of shapes, colors, and models to meet your individual dog needs.

FINGER NAIL ART

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I love to paint my fingernails. Sometimes I am not girly enough to handle the upkeep and I can be found with nails like this for a week or so.
I don't want to budget in expensive trips to the salon for a little bit of fingernail art. So I have found a small alternative that I'm hoping will help me out. I got some vinyl nail decals from Vinyl Disorder.
They are really easy to use, add a little flare to your nails, and help the polish last a little longer.
It's really to do.
1. Paint your nails like normal.
2. Add the vinyl decal of your choice on top of the polish.
3. Paint a clear coat over the top of the nail decals (to make it more secure and last longer).
Easy peasy, right?!
I chose heart decals for Valentine's Day.
Try it out and add a little pizazz with some nail art. After all, your hands are seen by people every day.

Vinyl Disorder also offers other quality vinyl products such as wall decals, wall quotes, in loving memory decals, and stickers.

#PuppyBowl

I'm not a Seahawks or Broncos fan
(I almost called the game and won $50 when I guessed the final score of 43-10 in favor of Seattle).
But Day-Z was a total fan of the Puppy Bowl.
She wouldn't stop barking at the players.
