STORE RETURN POLICY

Rushing in to the store to make a return with only the item, my store card used for the original purchase of item, and receipt, I was denied the opportunity to make the simple return. My purpose of only taking those 3 items in with me was so I wouldn't purchase anything else. I was planning on going in and out of the store as quickly as possible. The cashier told me I could not make a return without my ID. She told me it was for my own safety that she wouldn't let me make the return that way.

Dear Store Policy and employees who follow it,
If someone wants to fraudulently return things to my credit card account, leaving me with more money to spend and them with nothing, then they are stupid and you have my permission to let them do so. I have no problem with that. On the other hand, almost EVERY TIME I make a credit card purchase in your store I have NOT been asked to show ANY form of identification (on purchases ranging in price from $2-$100+). Maybe you need to rethink that store policy.

I had a similar experience with the cable company. Our cable had quit working. I was at work, and my brother (who lived with me at the time) was at home, so he called the cable company to have them fix the problem. They wouldn't work with him because he wasn't the account owner.

I figured, if someone wants to break into my house and sit in front of my TV and help work with the cable company to fix my cable, they are more than welcome to do so.

Some companies are ridiculous.

To Jeff - I bet they didn't ask for ID when you paid to set it up!

To Deanna - I feel your pain! The policy is so not to protect YOU. It's so they can keep track of how often people are returning things to see trends of potentially fraudulent customers (which I still don't totally understand but I used to work in retail and that's what they told me). I mean, seems to me if you have the receipt and the product, then even if you come back every day to return something, who cares? It's your life to waste buying and returning things!

I've had this happen to me too! It's maddening that they never ask for my ID when I buy the items, but if I should want to return something "it's their policy to request ID"

Maddening I say....

It drives me bonkers that they wont ask for ID.
